Immerse yourself in a truly international experience right here at ECU
Did you know, in Japan the term Geisha means "person of the arts"? Interestingly, far from the images we now associate with this Japanese icon, the very first geisha were actually men.
The island nation of Japan, otherwise known as ‘The Land of the Rising Sun’, is a nation steeped in tradition and history, juxtaposed against the modern culture of cutting edge technology, fashion and fads.
If you would like to learn more about this fascinating country, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to volunteer for the Tokyo City University (TCU) Exchange Program in semester 2, 2017. TCU is the largest Australia-Japan student mobility program in the country, with over 200 Japanese students studying at ECU through the exchange program each year.
As a volunteer for the program, you will provide support, friendship and encouragement for up to six TCU students, assisting them settle into life and study at ECU. You will also accompany them on exciting off-campus excursions to famous Perth destinations such as Kings Park, Fremantle and Caversham Wildlife Park.
Volunteering for the TCU program is a great way to build international networks and increase your own cultural awareness, as well as developing your communication and leadership skills. It also looks great on your resume and leads to increased graduate employability - bonus!
If you are interested in taking part in this fun and rewarding program, making new friends and providing international visitors with insight into Australian customs and culture, we want to hear from you!
