Education Board

Working to Advocate for & Represent Students at University

The Guild's Education Board is a committee of student representatives, chaired by the Guild's Education Vice President. The Board works to facilitate communication between students and the University by hosting Open Forums, Consultative Sessions and Surveys, which we use to make submissions to the University.

Additionally, the student representatives of the Board work to represent and advocate for students of the various faculties at ECU, representing you on Faculty Committees and working to make sure your voices are heard.

Campaigns

The Education Board runs a number of campaigns for student welfare and rights that students at ECU can get involved in. Currently we are running a campaign for quality in education and fair student income support.

Students on Centrelink are living 33% below the poverty line

1 in 8 students regularly misses meals to pay for rent and living costs

It can take 15-20 years for a student to pay off their HECS debt

The Government promised to provide support and funding for Student Support Services at University, and a year later, still hasn't delivered.

ECU Student Guild is trying to start an Education Collective, of students interested in campaigning and providing support for the movement on these and other issues. Check out the online mailing list and discussion forum, for up to date info on campaigns and ways you can get involved.
