ECU Ally Program

The ALLY Network aims to make the ECU community a safer place for students and staff. The Network seeks to create a more diverse and inclusive culture by promoting greater visibility and awareness of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (GLBTI) staff and students and their related issues.
Adopting this program, the University is educating and training mainly heterosexual staff to be sensitive to GLBTI people and their needs. Trained staff members display the ally logo on their offices or in their workplaces to indicate to students that they have been trained in being supportive of and understanding sexuality and gender.
As of October 2008, all of the ECU Student Guild Staff Members have been trained under the Ally Program, and work every year to expand their understanding and knowledge of the diversities of sexuality and gender.
